Antibody Testing

IDK® anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG ELISA

What is an antibody test?

An antibody test detects the presence of immunoglobulins, specialised cells of the immune system that are produced when the body is infected by a pathogenic organism like a virus or bacteria. The COVID-19 antibody test provided by 20/30 Labs detects anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG; these antibodies are generated after exposure to the virus.

What is the benefit of an antibody test?

An antibody test can be used as a way to check if you have previously been infected with COVID-19. It can also be used as a complementary test to confirm a positive COVID-19 test result. Rarely, someone will not produce antibodies even if they have had a previous infection, but for most people, an antibody test can provide much-needed reassurance. Testing is performed by analysing an intravenous blood sample collected by a 20/30 Phlebotomist. IDK® anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for qualitative measurement of IgG antibodies against the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in human serum or EDTA plasma.

Performance Characteristics:

  • Sensitivity: 100%
  • Specificity: 99.1%
  • Both performance indicators fall within the requirements of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) criteria for Antibody Testing.
